Purpose    

Cancer Patients Insurance Advocates (CPIA) aims to provide cancer patients and survivors with insurance assistance.  

Services for current patients

The CPIA staff will research existing patients benefits (medical, disability, life, long-term care insurance); explain existing benefits to patients, work with the insurance company and caregivers to correct medical billing errors, appeal claim decisions, arrange payment plans to caregivers if necessary, assist patients file for disability, long term care and death claims.

The mission of CPIA is to help patients navigate their existing personal insurance i.e. medical, disability, long term care, and life.  We strive to ease the burden of insurance for patients.

Services for cancer survivors

The CPIA staff specializes in helping cancer survivors identify the insurance coverage needed as well as placing the coverage with the carrier that best fits their personal medical situation.  We realize that every survivor’s situation is different and we work hard to make sure that we find the most cost effective solution to fulfill our client’s insurance needs.

Medical:

  • Explain existing benefits to patients    
  • Answering medical insurance coverage questions
  • Assist cancer patients with medical insurance billing problems
  • Work with patients to appeal claims that have been denied
  • Develop affordable payment plans to caregivers if necessary

Disability

  • Obtain coverage for survivors
  • Explain benefits and process to patient
  • Help patients file necessary forms to apply for benefits from employer, state and federal sponsored disability
  • Follow process to insures correct and timely disability payments to patients    

Long Term Care

  • Obtain coverage for survivors
  • Explain benefits and process to patient
  • Help patients file necessary forms to apply for personal or employer sponsored Long Term Care coverage
  • Follow process to insure correct and timely payments are made to patients

Life Insurance

  • Obtain coverage for survivors
  • Help file necessary forms for death or viatical claim
  • Results
  • Alleviate the stress and worry related to the cost of treatment
